InstallationYou can install VOTItaly for Joomla! 1.5 in few steps, just go into the administrator panel and:
VOTItaly is now installed. You can customize your new plugin accessing from: Extensions -> Plugin Manager, where it's listed as "Content - VOTItaly".
Usage InstructionAfter you install the plugin using the "Joomla! Installer", go to Extensions -> Plugin Manager, where you need to
Now, enable rating on your contents or your menu to see it in action. That's it! Now visit your website and you will see that the voting (rating) system is enabled!
Plugin UninstallTo completely remove the plugin, from your Joomla! 1.5 administration, you have to follow these two steps:
UpgradeTo upgrade to the latest version please uninstall all previous versions of VOTItaly and install the new package.
ChangelogVersion 1.2 (released on August 27th, 2009)
Version 1.1 (released on January 6th, 2009)
Version 1.0 (released on July 01th, 2008)

Hi i Have one problem with this plugin, when i enable global rating in joomla votitaly doesn't work, but when i enable rating manually for some content everything it's ok. i don't understand this.

You have to check your content section and category configuration, You probably force not to show stars in that configuration.. If you have more questions please post in the forum...

The only thing I would improve is this:

A lot of Review sites (like for example mine, which review cds), would need a double rating system: One for the people to rate the cd, and one fix, that only the Admin can use. The admin stars should be in a different colour than the visitors votes. That would be a great improvement, but thanx anyway for the extension! report abuse

Just FYI and as a feedback to you, it seems there is a conflict between VOTItaly and JoomlaComment  since it did not work on my website after JoomlaComment was installed and active. report abuse

1) This module seems to conflict in articles with universal playground flickr plugin (Stars drawn, but I can't register vote). 2) If I open image in lightbox, stars remain in foreground... Firefox 3.0.7 Bye report abuse

does ajaxifying your joomla template improves performance in any way? I mean if it reduces bandwidth use by not-loading-whole-page, just the needed element. Or is it just user experience that is improved, and the transfered data amount is the same? Thanks in advance! report abuse

This was simple to install and looks great on the page. But when I click to vote it just keeps 'updating' forever and votes are not added. I checked the support forum and found that someone else posted about the same problem almost 4 weeks ago and has not received a single reply although he helpfully included a pic of the problem. Rather than post a "me too" type post to the forum, I've decided to look elsewhere for my needs. I've linked to my website if anyone is interested in seeing the problem, or if I can't get it fixed, the solution that I decided to use instead.

I also noticed a post in the forum where someone complained that voters could vote more than once if someone else voted in between the time that they last voted. A solution to include a bunch of html code was posted, but as far as I can see, this updated feature never made it into an update of this module. It looks like this module has a lot of potential, but poor support. That's quite sad since the front end/ back end demo was one of the best demos I've seen, allowing us to take it for a thorough test drive. report abuse

I installed and uninstalled 6 times, still can't get this to work. Checked my phpmyadmin and did not find any "jos_vi_rating" table in my sql. Could that be the problem? Any assistance will be much appreciated. Stars appeared only in some articles but not others (which they are from the same categories and sections which I selected to appear). After clicking on the stars, it just did not register the vote. Guess it had no "jos_vi_rating" to store the data. If I create manually the table of "jos_vi_rating", will it help? I just did not know what parameter to set for that table coz I am not familiar with programming, may be just a little nit of self learned experience. Please help! Thanks in advance. report abuse

In the VOTItaly administration panel check the field "Check DB Table" to be set to "Yes". Then submit a vote in frontend. Then you can switch to "No" that field in administration.

It seems like no answer been given to whether the rating start can appear at the bottom of article instead of the top. So, can it be done on both "top & bottom", when come to long article, you do not want the reader to come back up again to vote?

This is a nice plugin and I like it ! My question : I develop a GNU/GPL component and want to have the possibility to use your plugin in it (with your license of course). I use this plugin and can share with you : 1. problem with upload forever is only releated to Internet explorer. It work for me in Mozilla. 2. You can put stars up or down. I can not recall but try order in plugin configuration !!!1 report abuse

Same problem as many users here, and similar to that one reported in many forums: after clicking on star to vote the system keep saying "Saving your vote.." but nothing appends! And also, in my database I can not find ant vi_rating table.

FOR ALL OF THOSE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODULE:

in particular, those reporting ( like me!!) problems when casting vote and Joomla beeing stuck on "Saving..." process: i finally managed to find a solution! You must log-in into your site via FTP and then locate VOT Italy Plugin Files ( usually Joomla-->Plugins-->content. Here you will find a couple of files, while another file is in /joomla/plugins/content/ji_votitaly/js ). One you located each file (*.php and *.js ) set proprietes to enable right of execution for anybody Et voilà...plugin is now working!!! MODERATORS PLEASE ACCEPT THIS COMMENT!! Since there are thousands of users working hard to find a solution!!! report abuse

....purtroppo ancora nulla. settato tutti i file su chmod 777 e poi su 755. Nulla da fare non funziona. Ma perchè nessuno dei moderatori ci da una mano???

To everyone is encountering problems with permissions, sometimes the chmod command does not resolve it.

Find this a great plugin! Only thing I would like to see is that you have the option to show 0 stars if an article has no votes yet. I have articles layed out in such a way that I have to vote for a article myself at least once for the layout to be correct. This is truly a great addon though!

The "VOTItaly" Plugin by JOOMItaly is the evolution of the default Joomla! voting/rating system. The plugin is an eye-candy "star rater", which uses AJAX technology to seemlessly process your visitor votes on your articles (content items) without reloading the page.
